This 2000 Waterford Society Crystal Phoenix was handmade in Ireland from the purest crystal. It is acid etched with the Waterford name and hallmark. The green & gold sticker is attached. This stunning piece is the 5th edition of the Waterford Society's "Legends and Lore Collection". This was sold as a strictly Limited Edition .

This goreous piece is BRAND NEW . It was taken out of it's box for these photographs only . This would be a wonderful gift for any special occasion or to keep for yourself. It was retired the year it came out. It sold for $275.00.

The Waterford Society was a private organization of Waterford Crystal collectors. You had to be a member to buy these exclusive pieces . They were not available anyw else. All of their items are inscribed with a stylized WS & the year (in this case the year is 2000 ), along with all the other qualities you'd expect . The Waterford Society doesn't exist anymore . These very special pieces are getting harder to find , until, one day, you'll not be able to find them anymore. This adds great worth to the price of the piece.

The story of the " Phoenix Rising fom the Ashes", is steeped in legend. In Mythology, it is said, that only one Phoenix lives on the earth at a time for 500 years . After that time is up, the Phoenix fans it's wings ever faster, until it's fragrant nest is ablaze . When the adult Phoenix dies, a young one springs from the flames for it's 500 years. It is a story of Rebirth and Renewal.

As the dawn of the new Millennium approached, Waterford Master Sculptor , Fred Curtis was so inspired by this legend, that he chose the immortalize this renewal and rebirth in this sculpture of pure Irish crystal .

This amazing piece comes in it's original gray, heavily padded Waterford Society Box. All original paperwork , including a Certificate of Authenticity, is included. The Phoenix is very large at approx. 7" tall by 8" wide overall. It also comes with a mahogany base , which itself sells for $49.00. The base is 5 1/2" long by 4" wide with a black velvet area inset for the Phoenix's base to sit , & a black velvet bottom , to protect what it sits on. It was sculpted out of one piece of solid, pure, radiant crystal. This piece is very heavy. The box is very large at 6 1/4" by 13 1/2" by 11 1/2".
