Superb example of Waterline Model Ship RMS EMPRESS of ENGLAND Fantastic and rare chance to buy this lovely model from German maker Albatros RMS EMPRESS of ENGLAND. RMS Empress of England was built in 1956-1957 in Newcastle for the Canadian Pacific Steamship Line. She was launched in 1956 and she undertook her maiden voyage in 1957. The ship was ordered along with two other sister ships -- the Empress of Britain and the Empress of Canada. She was intended for sailing between Liverpool and Montreal and the Empress's maiden voyage began on April 18, 1957. The ship sailed from Liverpool bound for Montreal, Quebec. Trans-Atlantic crossings continued until her last regular scheduled crossing which began on November 14, 1969. Thereafter she accomplished some cruises before she was sold in March 1970. She was sold to the Shaw, Savill and Albion Line and and she worked until 1970 under the name of Ocean Monarch. Then she undewent a huge refit to becaom a cruise liner with extra cabins, swimming pools, bars and discos. She worked on and of - boiler problems affecting her reliability - until June 1975 when she was sold and scrapped in Kaohsiung in Taiwan. Here we have a really d etailed and delightful model showing Empress in her heyday of the 1960s. A difficult model to achieve being out of production and a really fine collectors piece. read more
