Country Kitchen Charm at Its Best! Watt Pottery Rooster Pie Plate Vintage Kitchenware in Near Mint Condition! Welcome to our auction! you're bidding on a single pie plate or baker from the Rooster line by Watt Pottery. Rooster is one of Watt's most popular and endearing patterns, featuring a black outlined standing rooster with feathers red and green standing in the grass. Pieces in this pattern tend to be scarce, especially in certain parts of the country, but t is a huge variety of items available to collect for those with patience. We tend to believe that this piece may be a bit more scarce than others since it is not listed in our Watt Pottery collectors guidebook.We've examined this piece carefully and are amazed at its outstanding good condition. It's free from any chips, cracks, crazing, staining, or scratches. It actually looks to have never been used. Additionally, its glaze is rich and even with excellent cream background and full rich color in the hand painted decoration. Its overall quality is well above some of the more poorly made pieces of Watt we've seen in the past. It measures about 8-1/4" in diameter and stands about 1-1/2" tall.Many pieces of Watt Pottery are numbered on their bottoms. This one is not. The impressed mark on the underside of this pie plate is circular, having a stylized "Watt Ware" logo in its center. Around this logo the mark reads EVE-N-BAKE OVEN WARE U.S.A. It's interesting to note that the marking on the bottom of this piece is fairly crisply impressed and easily read, leading us to believe that this piece was made early into the production of the Rooster pattern before the moulds became worn. Many times Watt Ware marks are weak and poorly impressed owing to older worn out moulds.So t you have it. This is as nice a piece of Watt Pottery as we've ever seen.
