This phone and ringer box look and work great. The base either has the original paint in great shape or it has had a quality re-paint. An unusual feature of this phone is a "T" stamped under the D1; I'm not sure what the origin or significance of this marking is. If any phone buffs out t know, shoot me an email. The inside is marked 1940 and is equipped with a mini-network to render this phone compatible with a modern modular system. The baseplate has the original suede cover that is in good condition with some surface wear. The dial works flawlessly and calls out without problem. The original dial card is in place. T is some mild wear on some of the letters and numbers but they still look quite good. The handset is a bakelite seamless E1 with a spitcup and is in excellent condition. The voice reception and transmission is excellent. The only flaws in the handset are as follows: a very small chip adjacent to the rear tool hole of the transmitter cup, a surface chip near the entry of the cord, and 2 miniscule chips on the a)front rim of the transmitter near the tool hole and b)the adjustor piece tool hole (all are pictured and are difficult to notice). The handset cord is original with one tiny fray spot and the phone to box and box to line cords are new high quality brown cloth cords. The ringer box is a Western Electric 43A, made read more
