OK, so it's not an original WW1/2 tunic or cap. It is however an absolutely genuine private-purchase post-wars (1960 dated) bespoke British Colonels tunic. Made by Moss Bros Ltd. one of Britian's oldest and most highly esteemed military tailors. It is virtually identical in every detail to it's WW1-2 cousins. And it does have a history. Its original owner was another Moss, Colonel R.R. Moss of the Royal Tank Corps who won a Military Cross in WW2. His name is on the tailor's label and his Royal Tank Corps buttons are on the tunic. Look him up in the London Gazette circa 1930-1960. But the real attraction of this group is its wearable size. It is a very comfortable US 44-46. Possibly even a US 48. Adjustable in or out with the re-positioning of its buttons. Who doesn't want a genuine British Colonels tunic, complete with its red staff officers gorgets. Red tabs. Gorgeous heavy gaberdine wool fabric. But let's face it, by the time we get around to making the move we have either lost the wasp waisted military figure of our youth, or being brawny beef-fed Americans, could never have fit into the tunic of a small boned upper-class Englishman even in our sallow youth.
