Purchased from Europe, I am inclined to believe this was made by Thomas Webb, but the coloring looks very French and reminds me of Stumpf Monet. The colors are stunning and I tried to photo in some different lighting in attempt to relay the magnificence. Photos just don't do it justice. It is a gorgeous little vase that sizes as a toothpick holder as well. It measures 2 1/2" tall, 2 3/4" base, 2 3/4" flare petal to petal. The opening seems to measures approx. 1 1/4". The color is stunning...cranberry with 12 light opalescent stripes I tried to pick up in the photos. The vaseline didn't pick up greatly with my low powered black light but I think you can certainly tell it does glow neon green. NO chips or cracks, one 1/2" scratch to the inside neck....didn't notice at first but as I examine every detail with a loupe I did pick it up. Great expected wear to the base. Don't expect perfection as this piece dates to the 1870's or 1880's most likely, and thus has minute traces of age to the outside, not damaged. One must examine with a loupe to find, and it would be troublesome if wear was not found. This is a piece that will delight you...it is exquisite!
PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS AS I WILL BE LISTING MORE ITEMS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS! REALITY CHECK Mostof the items I sell are from the 1800's or early 1900's and as thuswill have certain irregularities because of the primitive conditions at the glass factories. Sometimes t are extra bits of undissolved sand, black ash in the glass, as well as bubbles and other such production conditions. These are not considered flaws but normal characteristics that make each antique piece unique to the individual glass blowers and one reason it is not so usual to find mass quantities, and you have the luxury of having a piece that is not owned by every Tom, Dick, or Harry!! These common flaws will generally not be addressed. I will address chips, cracks, and any other flaw that affects the value of the piece, or that I would want to know about if I were purchasing. I do a thorough examination of each piece I sell....probably too much so as I know if one looks hard enough to find a flaw it usually will be found! I am quite often told that the piece was received in better condition than I described because of my obsession with examining every inch for accuracy. I basically only sell pieces that I myself would buy, and I am very particular about my glass :) TERMS OF SALE Response to my auctions is expected within 3 days, and payment within 7 days. If you don't checkout right away please email me so that I know your shipping preferences. (I can't pack items until I know whether it is to be sent Priority or Parcel Post, combined, etc.) I prefer payment by paypal but will also be happy to accept money orders. SHIPPING I am to make your buying pleasure as smooth as I would like mine to be. (yes, I buy too!) The new postal rates are ridiculous and quite confusing - I do try my very best to keep shipping cost to a minimum for you. I pack items VERY well and have never had an item arrive broken. I am more than happy to combine shipping but ask that you email me for a quote as the size of packages now impact the shipping cost as much as the weight. Please contact me before paying if you have any special requests as it may alter the shipping price. I do my best to ship purchases within 3 days of payment clearing and generally shipping is immediate - please be reasonable with expectations as well as feedback on shipping time, and cost, as I have no control over the Post Office. ** Due to the fact that I find myself often purchasing insurance out my pocket I am forced to require insurance on any delicate or high value items I sell. Even though my shipping/breakage record is flawless, the post office has been known to mishandle or even lose packages and I cannot be responsible for that. Paypal does not offer protection for the seller in these events and refunds money even if insurance was refused. I must protect my auctions. FINALIZI...
