Photographer: Unknown (possibly J.M. Cautinho) Title: Wedding Group in front of Luke Thomas Co Building, Aden, Arabia Date: circa 1900 Medium: Albumen Print Size of Image: 8 3/8 x 11 ¼ inches Size of Mount: na Condition: Unmounted print, good mid/dark towns with weak light areas, chips bottom/top right corners, small tear top edge center, light crease left top corner, some light foxing on recto. Other: On recto in period hand is written, "With ?? ??, Greetings from the Bride & the Bridegroom." The wedding guest have been carefully arranged in front of the Luke Thomas & Co., Limited building (erected 1886), Aden , Arabia . On the column behind one guest is a sign that partially reads, "Agents (of the) Union Castle (Steam)ship Co(mpany)" and on another column is a crested sign for the "Consoluat de Belgique." I would assume that the bride or groom have a connection to the Luke Thomas Company since the name of the building is so prominent in the photo. An interesting piece of Aden history.
