You are bidding on an Wedgewood American Independence Bicentennial Plate 1776-1976. This plate is light blue in color with an raised George Washington in the middle. T are 13 raised president portrait crests from the 13 original colonies along the outer rim of the plate. They are Massachusetts (John Hancock), Virginia (Thomas Jefferson), Pennsylvania (Benjamin Franklin), South Carolina (Edward Rutledge), Delaware (Caesar Rodney), Georgia (Lyman Hall), New Hampshire (Josiah Bartlett), Maryland (Samuel Chase), Connecticut (Roger Sherman), Rhode Island (Stephen Hopkins), North Carolina (Joseph Hewes), New Jersey (John Witherspoon) and New York ( Philip Livingston). The back of the plate states American Bicentennial 1976Specially designed by Wedgewood to celebrate 200 years of American Independence and in tribute to the men and events that gave birth to a new nation in 1776.
