Phenomenal Service for 8 Wedgewood by International No monograms (see detailed description below) Previously, I had only seen this pattern in the reference books.... never in person. And quite frankly, I wasn't impressed. Then I found this set in the warehouse and it knocked my socks off. The pattern is spectacular. Very reminiscent of the intricate engraved patterns popular in the early 1800s. Luscious yet discrete, the grecian type styling maintains the dignity and elegance of heirloom sterling. Please take a good look at the close-up photo below... and every piece is as crisp and clear as the one photographed. T are absolutely no dings, tings, or dents to indicate abuse or neglect. Even the backs of the pieces (w they would rest on the table) show little or no signs of ever being used. Of all the pieces, only the butter spreaders show any measure of use... and then only very little. It was tho, lovingly used and cared for but the former owners did not know of the pitfalls of dishwasher phosphates. Several of the knife blades show water spotting usually caused by running them thru a full dishwasher cycle with a phosphate detergent. I have done this (before I learned) and I got the spots off by a long soak in a gentle dish detergent. Just for general knowledge... it is never a good idea to run hollow handled knives thru the dishwasher. The heat of the drying cycle can cause steam to build up inside the handles and quite literally, blow them up. I lost two of my Francis the I knives this way. Now... to the particulars. As mentioned above, this set is a service for 8. I believe it was assembled over time because several (4) of the spoons have various monograms on the back handles as well as all of the oyster or seafood forks. I despise monograms but when they are on the back, then its out of sight, out of mind. Wedgewood was a popular release in 1924 and is still in production so it apparently retains it's popularity today. This set is in exceedingly good shape. Absolutely no dings, gouges, dents, or other defects not mentioned. Each piece nests well with its counterparts and it does set a lovely table. 8 Knives - 9 inches 8 Forks - 7 1/2 inches 8 Salad or dessert forks - 6 3/8 inches 15 Teaspoons - 6 inches 8 oyster or seafood forks - 5 1/2 inches 8 Ice tea spoons - 7 1/2 inches 8 butter spreaders - 5 7/8 inches 1 gravy ladle 5 large serving spoons (one still in package) 1 master butter knife 2 large serving 'sporks' 2 sugar shells (measurements are approximate) The case it came in is wood with silvercloth lining. It is in good shape. Naturally, it wouldn't be mistaken as new, but it does look better than some I've seen. Naturally, if you opt to pass on the case... the shipping charges will be significantly reduced. Without the case, the shipping charges would be approximately $12.95 for Priority Mail shipping in the lower 48 states. Alaska and Hawaii would be higher. Please view the pictures carefully. I generally take my photographs outside in sunlight to accurately depict the colors and conditions of the items I am offering. If you see any discolorations or other anomalies that would indicate damage, it is either the sun, the clouds, the trees, or me. Due to the value of this listing, insurance is required. I try to fully and faithfully disclose any irregularities I find but I am far from perfect and some things may escape my detection.
