THE WEDGEWOOD CHRISTMAS PLATE SERIES THE FIRST THREE PLATES OF THE SERIES 1969 - 1970 - 1971 BLUE AND WHITE JASPER This is the first English Pottery CHRISTMAS PLATE Series ALL THREE ARE IN THEIR ORIGINAL BOX AND IN MINT CONDITION WEDGEWOOD JASPER - famous throughout the world was first produced in 1774 by Josiah Wedgewood (1730-1795) after more than 10,000 recorded experiments and years of research. It was the last ceramic body to be developed by the Father of English Potters and has been made continuously by Wedgewood ever since. Introduced in 1969 in honor of WEDGEWOOD's Bicentenary Anniversary . At the end of 1969 the original models was destroyed and no new ones were made. The inaugural 1969, eight inch plate is in pale blue and white Jasper. A view of Windsor Castle is hand -ornamented in white bas-relief with encircling border of holly leaves and "Christmas 1969" is embossed in blue. The 1970 Christmas Plate original models was destroyed and no new ones were made at the end of 1970. A view of Trafalger Square focusing on the Norwegian Christmas tree.
