This is a Wedgwood Basalt black vase or bowl in a neoclassical style. It is 12-1/4 inches wide from handle to handle, 4-3/8 inches deep and 4-3/16 inches tall. Condition is excellent, no chips, cracks, scrapes or crazing. From research, I think the model is #0609 and the year is circa 1961, but I can't actually make out the markings on the bottom.ADDENDUM - Thanks for this info to ebayer basalt: This is a slipcast Wedgwood product with a black satin glaze called Ravestone. You can tell by the white foot ring and light overall weight. It was marketed as an affordable alternative to the more expensive stoneware body known as black basalt.
