You are bidding on a Wedgwood blue historical plate depicting "The Jan Mabie House, Rotterdam, N.Y." The oldest house in the Mohawk Valley, west of Schenectady, built about 1680. The plate was commissioned by The Montgomery County Historical Society, Amsterdam, N.Y. The marks indicate a manufacture prior to 1940. The plate could possibly be from as early as 1907. The following is an excerpt from a meeting of the Directors of the Montgomery County Historical Society held January 4, 1907: The Literary Committee reported the purchase of 1200 blue Wedgwood plates, Fort Johnson, Guy Park, Mabie House, Van Alstyne house. The President and Treasurer were authorized to make a note for $306.52 in payment of the same. The plate measures 9 1/4" in diameter, and is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs.
