Description:An extremely unusual find in Wedgwood Jasper ware, this is a bell push, an electric servant's call bell. It's solid blue Jasper with white relief decoration. I believe this example may have spent part of its life as a doorbell. It consists of a Jasper bezel, and a Jasper button. The interior of the bezel has been filled with some sort of putty with sleeves in it which hold the screws which secure the back plate. The back plate holds the electric button, which keeps the Jasper button in place. This piece dates to the early 20th century, about 1900-1920. Electric bell pushes were a luxury item, found only in upper-class houses, and they were made by the best manufacturers.Size: Bezel is 3" in diameter, 1.25" tall to top of button. 3.75" wide across mounting tabs, 1.5" deep overall.Mark: Impressed Wedgwood and England on the back.Condition: Jasper parts are fine. Metal backplate appears to be a replacement, probably made to accept a replacement electric button.Shipping weight is 1.0 lbs. Shipping and insurance will be $5.50 in the Continental US. We are always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. Please feel free to ask any questions you have about this item and please check out our other auctions/listings for great and unusual ceramics, glass, and other items !BSS:NC
