Unique pitcher designed by American illustrator Augustus L. Jansson (1866-1931) for Wedgwood in 1909. Measures 5-1/2" to the tip of the spout and 4" in diameter across the top. Three playing card characters are depicted around the pitcher with various rhymes. "Ye king of clubs doth make decree just w and when thy luck shall be." "Ye queene of spades Love's chaperone who measures lovers by her own." "Ye knave of diamonds wealth's esquire who brings all wealth that wealth acquire." T are condition issues. T is crazing; t are several hairlines; t is a chip to the spout and an area at the bottom of the pitcher w the glaze has chipped off. Selling "as is." Please see photos and email me with any questions. In spite of all of its faults, it is an amusing and interesting piece that would add dimension to a Wedgwood collection.
