Weir Half-pint Horseradish Stoneware Jar - VERY RARE This half-pint Horseradish stone fruit jar that is one of the hardest of the Weir seal jars to find. This tiny jar is 100 years old! Production of Weir Pottery began in 1900. Weir Pottery quickly became well known for the Old Sleepy Eye items it produced and for their line of stone fruit seal jars. The Weir Pottery was sold in December 1905 and became the Western Stoneware Company. An interesting bit of history about Weir Pottery is that the seal jar patent used to produce this half-pint horseradish jar was awarded on March 1, 1892 . . . prior to the start-up of the Weir Pottery in 1900. T are no hairlines or cracks in this jar. The cap has some glaze skips w the coloring did not take as can be seen in the photo . . . the cap is free of chips, cracks, and hairlines. The mechanism is original, in working order, and undamaged. T are two very small chips (one is about 1/8 th inch and the other is about 1/4 th of an inch) on the inside of the lip of the jar that have been t a very long time judging by their unglazed color . . . see photo. The inside diameter of the jar opening is 1 3/8 th inches in diameter and the outside lip-to-lip measures 2 inches. The jar base measures 3 7/8 th inches in diameter.
