WELLER (maybe) BULBOUS MORNING GLORY VASE:
Go ahead - laugh if you must. It DOES say "Weller" on the bottom, even though it looks like grandma "Weller" made it in ceramics class. But - it was included in a collection of good American Art Pottery owned by a friend who was a long-time antique dealer. Could be it puzzled her as much as it does me..... The pattern looks like morning glories with a bit of an Art Deco design. The color is a dark blue - we used a flash, so it looks pretty bright in our photo. The glaze covers the bottom. It shows wear as though it's been sitting on someone's shelf for a long time. The "Weller" appears to be incised in longhand with a ceramic tool, rather than pressed into the mold. It's only 4-3/4" tall and 4-1/4" wide. High gloss except for one area toward the top that seems just a little duller - not real noticeable. The inside is the same blue and glazed as well. I do see fine crazing inside on the bottom, as well as outside on the bottom - hard to spot in the dark color. If it's the very first vase they ever made and you get it for $5.99 - MAY YOU MAKE YOUR FORTUNE AND RETIRE WEALTHY! Otherwise, the joke's on me! TERMS OF SALE: Most of what we offer is antique, vintage or collectible. Almost nothing "of age" can be classified as pristine any more. We hope our photos and description will help the collector identify and evaluate its desirability before bidding. We don't consider ourselves "experts", however, and questions are always welcome. RETURNS: We don't have duplicates of what we offer - each item is unique for us. Once it's gone, it's gone. Only if we have grossly misrepresented an item, the buyer may contact us immediately upon receipt of it to discuss returning it for a refund of the purchase price, less shipping and insurance. PAYMENT: We prefer PayPal, but will accept money orders and checks (US FUNDS ONLY), acknowledging the 7-10 days for clearing before we ship. We appreciate the buyer contacting us within 24 hours of close of auction with their payment method, shipping and address information. Payment is expected in our PayPal account or our mailbox within 7 days of close of auction. SHIPPING: For the sake of fragile vintage items, we prefer US Priority Mail with insurance in an appropriate box, packed well. If the buyer prefers another shipping method, please contact us. If insurance is refused and the item is lost or damaged in transit, we will not be responsible. If you have a shipping question, please include your city, zip or postal code. FEEDBACK: What we all live for on eBay. Your input is appreciated, and it tells us that you've received your package. We will reciprocate.
