Offered for auction sale is a wonderfully designed, molded, and colored, Velva pattern Cabinet Vase/Planter Bowl , made in Ohio by Weller Pottery in the 1930's . The front side features a window-like, recessed vertical panel with low relief molded leaves, vines, and blossoms, set off-center between two small Arts & Crafts style side handles. The opposite side is incised with 3 Art Deco styled bold vertical stripes, also placed off-center. The colors, inside and out, blend from browns to oranges to olive green, all beneath a soft satiny glaze. This cabinet Vase/Planter Bowl is just under 4" high. It has a 2 3/8" diameter footed base, and flares outward to a 4 3/8" top rim. It is in clean and excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. Underglaze crazing is only present on a bit of its unglazed underside, below the incised "Weller" script marking.SEE ALL PHOTOS AND ENLARGEMENTS BELOW.
