This is a finely detailed 1/144 vacuform kit of the ATR-42-300 commuter turboprop in Ryanair livery by Welsh Models. This kit features vacuform fuselage, flight surfaces and engines, plus metal landing gear, gear doors and flap-tracks. Like all vacs, this is a kit for experienced modelers and I would set the age range for it at about fifteen years old, minimum, unless your little prodigy already has some seriously well developed modeling chops. For this buildup, although it is smallish, I highly recommend utilizing the "river of epoxy" technique wherein you notch out the internal bulkheads where they straddle the seam of the fuselage halves before gluing those halves together, then cut a small hatch in the bottom of the fuselage and pour twelve-minute epoxy into the cylinder, gently tilting the fuselage up and back until the epoxy has coated the seams completely, top and bottom, and filled the vertical stabilizer as well (you can track the progress of the flowing epoxy by holding the fuselage up to the light). Let the epoxy cure overnight and the fuselage will be good and solid and strong, ready for puttying and sanding. This kit makes an interesting addition to your shelf display, and will nestle in nicely between some of the larger commercial jets you keep there. Enjoy the build!
