TheWenger Soldier Swiss Army Knife is a sturdy utilitarian pocket knife with a ribbed aluminum alox finish. It is the actual version which was issued to enlisted men in the Swiss Army as a part of their personal equipment. The Soldier knives are purchased by the Swiss government by annual contract and show the last two digits of the year of manufacture at the base of the main blade.This Soldier is grade B+ and was issued in 1991 to commemorate the 100 th Anniversary of the Swiss Army Knife.This model of the Soldier was replaced with a new model, based on the Victorinox Trekker design, in 2009.The Victorinox Soldier is a standard sized (3.5 in. / 91 mm) Swiss Army knife with a large blade, reamer, can opener with small screwdriver, and bottle opener with large screwdriver.I am primarily a collector, but searching for new and unusual models often brings me duplicates and perfectly useful knives that I cannot keep. I share these on eBay. I classify knives by condition according to the scale below.Grading Scale:A+ new in box, with paperwork. Box may be worn, but the knife has never been carried, sharpened, or used. Collector or museum quality.A new or like new, but no box or paperwork. Collector or museum quality.B+ Excellent condition, no obvious wear, clean, tight, complete. Good for a collector, but probably not a museum.B Excellent
