The glaze on the background of this vase is black matte and slightly raised spongelike. The colors of the squares and retangles vary from black and brown to burnt orange variations and black to brown on green shiny glaze. The inside is glazed in a honey gold color. It appears to have some crazing in the glaze that almost looks like it was always there from firing. Other than that this piece is mint, no chips or other blemishes. Marked on the bottom 341 over 27. If you are familar with this mark please let me know who made this beautiful ewer. It is a great piece of 1940-50's art pottery.
