As a total departure for Westerfield Models, they celebrated the 100th anniversary of the World's Columbian Exposition by modeling the Pullman passenger car train exhibition there. Historically significant as the first wide-vestibule cars and lavishly decorated inside and out, they represented a high water mark of the Gilded Age. The six models are a combine, two different sleepers, diner, parlor, and observation. Each is physically different with fully detailed roofs, underbodies, trucks, art glass windows, curtains, and correct interiors--a first in HO scale. Despite the detail, Westerfield claimed the kits are no more difficult to assemble than their average box car. A limited edition print which depicts the cars on display in the Transportation Building of the Exposition is included. A presentation booklet that includes builders photos, scale drawings, floor plans, interior photos and complete history is included in the brass-import-quality outer box (which is in good condition). They believed this to be the finest train set ever offered in any scale. These 1000 sets were originally offered only from 1 May, 1993 through 31 October,1993. The kits were never repeated nor were they intended to be. The sets apparently were only available through a few selected dealers. Original list price was $350 with less than usual discount to read more
