Antique Western Electric 302 Telephone Metal--Restored--Early Matching Dates Dated IV quarter 1940 and November 1940 Memorable Events of 1940 **FDR re-elected President for 3rd term** **Armistice Day Blizzard kills 144** **The Blitz occurs when Nazi Germany rains bombs on London** **Selective Service Act signed into law** **Bugs Bunny makes his debut** Metal Body - The zinc alloy body of this phone has been completly stripped and bead blasted of the original paint. It was then sanded lightly, primed and then painted with black lacquer. Once dry, the paint was lightly sanded to remove any orange peel and dust specs. Next, clear coat was applied and allowed to dry before lightly sanding with a wet sandpaper. Clear coat was then again sprayed, allowed to dry and sanded to remove any orange peel or dust. A rubbing compound was applied by hand to bring out its rich, deep black lustre. Bakelite Handset - The Bakelite F-1 handset was lightly sanded to remove its years of build up. It was then buffed to a brilliant shine. No clear lacquers or paints are ever used on Bakelite. The transmitter and receiver elements have been tested and cleaned as well as any contacts. Dial - The 5H dial was introduced with the 302 and was designed so it could be backfitted to any of the previous desk stands. This dial has been disassembled, cleaned,
