This wonderful Western Electric Dial Candlestick Telephone is fully reconditioned and guaranteed to work. IF YOU WANT A BEAUTIFUL DESK PHONE, THIS IS IT! All of the pieces were disassembled, cleaned, polished, thoroughly tested, and then reassembled after the new finish was applied. It was made in the 1920s for the Bell System and is one of the earlier types of the dial candlestick that was made by Western Electric. It is a model 51AL. It has patent dates of JAN 26 15, JAN 1 18, MAY 7 18 and SEPT 21 20 on the front of the base.
The transmitter has the clear sounding 1930s type capsule. It says PROPERTY OF AMERICAN TEL & TEL CO, 323 PAT USA JAN 14 1913. The mouthpiece is made of bakelite and is the WE type with the star in it. The receiver is made of hard rubber and is original. This phone is NOT A REPRODUCTION! It is the real thing. The only new parts are the nice brown cloth cords, the quality brown felt on the bottom cover, and the number card on the dial. It has a nice new PROFESSIONALLY APPLIED baked on semi-gloss black finish like the original, not a glossy spray can job. The dial is a WE #2AA that makes the wonderful clickity-clack sound when dialing and is correct for a WE 51AL candlestick phone. It says WESTERN ELECTRIC MADE IN USA PAT APP FOR on the bottom. The 534A subset (black box) is also original with the same semi-gloss black baked on finish, and is correct for this phone. It contains the ringer, coil, and condenser which are all necessary for proper operation. The subset can be placed on the wall, or under the desk, table, or anything else that the phone sits on. As mentioned before, this phone is fully functional and ready to use. Just plug it into any standard modular jack. To make a call, pick up the receiver, dial the number, and talk. To receive a call, pick up the receiver after hearing the old bell ring, and talk. This is a great old telephone! Telephones like this, reconditioned and functional, have sold on eBay for well over $900. The reserve is less than half of that for this beautiful phone! I want you to be happy with your purchase, so ask questions before bidding. Buyer to pay $32.00 for shipping and insurance. I accept money orders, cashiers checks, personal checks, and Paypal. Personal checks will delay shipment until they clear. BID WITH CONFIDENCE! I do all the repair work and have sold over 500 of these restored phones on eBay. Please READ my feedback. NO BIDS FROM OUTSIDE THE USA WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL - NO EXCEPTIONS!
