This is a Western Electric model 7A Telegraph Sounder and Model 12A Resonator Box. This may not be the correct sounder for this box, as the mounting holes do not match. These are two separate items. The 7A sounder has a 1000 ohm coil and a horse shoe bias magnet, making it very sensitive. It will operate on just 10-20 milliamps. One, or better yet, two 9 volt batteries in series will operate this sounder just fine. Since it has a bias magnet, correct polarity of the battery is important. This sounder is complete with all original hardware and knurled brass adjustment nuts. The resonator box is made of wood and is painted gloss black. The 12A model number is stamped into the rear above the Western Electric logo tag. The sounder measures 5 ½"L x 3"W x 4 ½"H The resonator box is 6 ½"W x 5"D x 71/2"H Condition of both items is excellent. The black paint is wearing a little thin on the base of the sounder, but t is no rust or corrosion on any of the metal parts. The resonator box has no chips, cracks, or other signs of misuse or abuse. The paint is almost like new. These museum quality items from the early days of electronic communication belong in your collection. (or in a museum) International Bidders must provide phone number for the customs form.
