WESTERN CUTLERY, MODEL 47, BOWIE, SHEATH KNIFE, RARE, MINT CONDITION. This knfie came from the Western Cutlery plant when it closed in 1992. It was purchased from a Western factory worker. It is in mint condition, and is considerably more rare than the larger model 49 Western bowie. This massive knife is a scaled down version of the larger model 49 The knife measures a massive 11 1/2 inches in length, with a blade length of 7 1/4 inches. The blade is extremely shiny, hollow ground with factory sharpening. the double guard is brass, as are the rivets which hold on the "synthetic" Western handles. This knife is gorgeous to look at and comes with a molded Western-type, stitched sheath with belt loup. Brass keeper snap sets off the brass guard and rivets. This knife would be the centerpiece of any Western collection. RARE because of its size, and pristine mint condition. This is the second largest Western bowie, with the model 49 being the largest followed by the 47, 45, and small 43. This knife is stamped: WESTERN W47, USA, "N", meaning that it was made in 1990, just two years before Western closed.
