RARE WESTERN UNION TICKER TAPE MACHINE WITH DOME!

Midwest Estate Buyers is please to bring you a historical piece from the Thomas Edison Company. This is a Thomas Edison Universal Stock Market Ticker Tape machine!!!

Up for auction we have this rare and wonderful and WORKING Thomas Edison Universal Stock Market Ticker Tape Machine with original dome! This machine was in service delivering stock quotes from 1880 until the stock market crash in 1929!

This awesome piece is one of Thomas Edison's earliest patents. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs. This machine has all of its original parts and paint. It has NOT been restored and it does run! The front plate on the base does have scratches, as seen in the photos. The mechanism does need to be cleaned.

On one side of the machine is printed "4472 Universal Ticker 3-A 22 OHMS". Also printed on the machine is "ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES NEW YORK". The black base of this machine has "Western Union Telegraph Co." printed in gold! There is an almost full roll of paper threaded into the machine, as seen in the photos! There is a small amount of rust, which is to be expected with an item from this time period. There is paint loss on the black base and scratches. The ticker machine measures approximately 10" high x 8" across. The base measures approximately 30" around.

The machine sets under a dome, that we believe, is original to the machine! The dome still has its protective tape around the bottom, but shows wear, as seen in the photos. The dome has no scratches or cracks. The dome measures approximately 15" high from the bottom to top and 30" around.

According to Sparkmuseum website, stock tickers are very rare today due to the fact that during World War II many of the Universal and self-winding tickers were scrapped for metal or sold off to businesses in South America. According to the website, in 1960, Western Union ordered all remaining tickers destroyed.
