Lavender Opalescent ARGONAUT You are bidding on a vintage covered dish in the ARGONAUT pattern. This dish is not marked but this was a popular pattern of Westmoreland Glass Company. It was an original design by Vallerysthal, a French glassmaker. It is a nicely sculpted piece with a smooth shell finial and decorations on the bowl and lid of raised sea shells. The entire piece sits on three dolphin feet. The opalescent shading is most noticeable on the shell and on the beaded rim. It adds a fire and iridescence to the lilac color. Really a striking piece. It measures about 6 1/2 inches tall to the top of the finial and the bowl is about 6 inches in diameter . Excellent condition with no chips or cracks or repairs. The glass is clear and bright. Great Display piece or candy dish
