Westmoreland Blue Milk Glass 8" Hen on Basketweave Nest This week we are listing an amazing assortment of large covered animal dishes from Westmoreland's animal kingdom in the hard to find Antique Blue color. Several of these animals rest on Westmoreland's desirable 8" oval lacy base. We are offering them all with no reserve. According to Kovar, Antique Blue is a robin's egg blue opaque color, which was produced by Westmoreland Glass Company as early as 1950. Today it is hard to find in any form, especially in the large animal covered dishes. If you have been waiting to add that special dish to your collection of blue milk glass, now is the time! This is the familiar Westmoreland 8" hen on diamond basket weave base, only this version in blue milk glass is much harder to find than its white milk glass cousin. Measuring 7-7/8" long and 6" wide, she stands 6½" tall. In perfect condition with no chips, cracks or repairs, this hen is an unmarked example, possibly indicating that she is an older version. This piece was introduced by Westmoreland Specialty as early as 1915 and was reintroduced by Westmoreland Glass Company in the late 1940s. If you are collecting one of these hens in each color, you will be proud to add this one to your collection! Please e-mail us with any questions you might have prior to placing your bid. For read more
