I do every part of the process of making my DESIGNS IN CLAY sculpted animals by myself in my dusty workroom in Redlands, California. I start with a glimmer of an idea, then transfer that idea into a clay or wax model. One of a kind sculptures go directly to the kiln. If it is to be a limited edition, I make the mold myself , then do castings. Whether a completely handbuilt sculpture, or a limited edition figurine, each piece is made from pottery ceramic clay (unless otherwise noted), lovingly detailed, fired in my kiln at least twice to produce the glossy glazed finish, hand painted (never airbrushed) with layers of underglazes and overglazes, and fired as many more times as it takes to develop just the right color and depth. Each piece is signed D. EDDY and dated, and numbered if a limited edition. I make only one mold of each limited edition sculpture, and when it is no longer usable, the piece is retired; so whether it is a numbered limited edition, or un-numbered, I'll never cast more than 75 of any piece.
