I've never seen one larger. This bottle was molded in 1946 in the giddy atmosp following four difficult years of war rationing. The label implies that even the quality of whiskey suffered during the war. The front and back label have 5/46 date which is most likely the bottling date. It was given to my Grandparents by a friend connected with Schenley Distributors, Inc. of Schenley Pennsylvania. The bottle is so large that it has a special lathe turned single piece hardwood cap. The lip of the bottle was fractured to separate it from the molding process due to its immense size. Three Feathers whiskey was a popular brand in the 1940's. Since the bottle was always displayed in the game rooms of my Grandparents' homes my Father's early childhood memory was the threat of serious consequences if he ever broke the bottle.
