This auction is for a vintage sake set that comes with the saki bottle and six cups. The sake container has a gold trimmed bird at the top; if you blow in the spout, the bird will whistle to indicate when you need a refill. The six sake cups are lithopane; if you hold them up to the light, you will see a beautiful geisha in the bottom. All the pieces of this white set have a dragon pattern . The jug says Kutani with some Japanese writing or marks on the bottom, the cups are unmarked. The cup rims and bottle spout had gold trim that was either very thin or worn, but the gold on the dragons are in excellent condition. The container is approximately 6" tall and the cups 1 1/2" tall. Either my late-father or uncle might have picked these up when they were stationed overseas in Japan, so this is probably from the 1940s or 1950s or possibly earlier. This is a very old set and has been packed away unused for at least 50 years. See photos for the items you will receive.
