This FIVE DAY NO RESERVE auction ends Monday evening July 2. This listing is for a RARE to find....White Ironstone sauce tureen or gravy tureen in the elusive CORN AND OATS SHAPE. Sometimes referred to as "Corn on the Cob" pattern. This two piece sauce tureen has the best embossing you can find! The piece is in very good condition. T are NO cracks, NO chips, NO crazing, NO restorations, NO stains. Nice white color with a rich shiny glaze! The piece measures 6" in height, 5" wide and 8" across from corn cob handle to handle. This is truly a scarce piece ironstone for any collection. It is deeply impressed: DAVENPORT IRONSTONE CHINA (20) and also has the DIAMOND REGISTRY MARK OF JANUARY 12, 1863. It also is impressed 12 - 65 (which could be the actual potting date of December 1865. An identical piece is pictured in Wetherbee's book "WHITE IRONSTONE CHINA, A COLLECTOR'S GUIDE" on page 96, figure 11-18. NOTE: I HAVE A SAUCE TUREEN LADLE THAT MATCHES THIS TUREEN!!! It is also.....CORN and OATS SHAPE. The tureen ladle is truly a RARE find too, as it also is deeply impressed DAVENPORT IRONSTONE CHINA and has the diamond registry date of January 12, 1863!
