WHITE PETS HOMER LAUGHLIN 11 1/2" EWER WITH HUNTING DOGS The White Pets line was produced by Homer Laughlin in the early days of this company's operation C. 1900. Homer Laughlin produced this line in different shapes and with different animals in the decoration. The animals which were always white in color utilized the natural white of the china with the rest of the piece being overpainted usually in fading greens, greys and pinks to accent as well as add to the detail of the piece. All pieces in this line are scarce and very seldom seen. The piece being offered in this auction i feel most collectors would agree is a simply incredible piece. Most pieces produced are small 4" to 6" mugs and vases. This one 11 1/2" tall is personally by far the largest i've seen and i'm sure at least among the largest of any size produced if not the largest. The ewer has also been produced on a wondeful Art Nouveau period blank with a curved handle trailing down the side and raised moldwork scrolls along the bottom. The condition of the ewer is also excellent with no chips or cracks as well as any paint flaking. The ewer has some crazing which can be seen in the photo's but is light and not dark and very minor. A truly great piece that i'm sure for the winning bidder would be a prize and focal point of any White Pets collection.
