Whites of Utica, N.Y. 2 Gallon Jug with Bouquet of Flowers Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, America's Source for Antique Stoneware , is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica." This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 69-70). This beauty features the company stamp with cobalt wash and a Large Bouquet of Flowers E xecuted in Bright and Shiny Dark Cobalt! The bouquet is identical to that often found on Norton of Bennington pieces indicating the decorator came from Bennington. Regardless of where he came from, we admire his work! Measures 11 1/2" tall. Excellent Conditon. No post-production damage. No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or repairs. Slight right lean to the spout, a salt drip on the left side ,and a piece of extra clay on the right side--all in the manufacture.
