DESCRIPTION: You are bidding on a WINTERHILFSWERK (WHW) collection tin from Germany . The WHW was an annual drive by the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt to help finance charitable work. Its slogan was "None shall starve nor freeze". The WHW was in existance from 1933 - 1945 and was designed to provide food and fuel to indigent Germans. The collection tin is approximately 8 1/2-inches tall (from the base to the top of the extended handle) and the base is approximately 4 1/8-inches in diameter. The collection tin has been in storage since the end of World War II and just recently brought to the United States . T is minimal rust on the outside of the tin and it apears to hav its original paint. The inside has the devise that keeps coins from being removed via the coin slot in the top loose. This could be spot welded or tack welded back in place. Please review the photographs closely for the overall condition of the collection tin.
