John Widdicomb Danish Modern Dining Table & 6 Chairs We purchased this dining set to use in our breakfast room. However, after it arrived we realized that it was too large for the space. We have a TV & rocking chair in the room also, my husband insists on camping out in that room, although he has a large flat screen in living room??? So we moved the table from center of room to the bump out with 5 large windows. Added 2 chairs & never used it. Continued to use the bar for our meals. We did use it for extra table one Easter. It can seat 8 comfortably with 3 leaves added. I am no longer able to have 18 of us for family dinners & we are downsizing to a smaller home. The table is 48" round with sunburst design in center. Many coats of lacquer for protection. It is 29" high & has 4" apron. There are 3 folding leaves which previous owner had custom made. Piano hinge, dowels & holes to fit together. The stain is not an exact match but they are lacquered also. There are two sets of 3 legs joined by a curved section. Also a locking mechanism under table. There are six boomerang back chairs. Previous owner had them professionally recovered in an off white geometric square fabric, very well done. Chair is 32" high to top of back. Seat height is 18". Seat is 19" wide at front & tapers slightly to back. It is 17" from front to back. Seat back is 7" high & 28" wide curved. The rear chair legs are one piece & support the back very sturdily. There is a metal John Widdicomb plaque on underside of table. There was a cardboard tag stapled to underside but my kitten ripped it. I have all pieces of tag except for parts that she might have eaten. Also # 5 1214 is stenciled underneath the table, might be design number. There are a few minor problems, table & chair legs have scratches from vacuum cleaners??? Were done by previous owners. 2 chairs have small yellowish spots on fabric. I cleaned them with water only but they are still visible, on on side of seat & 1 on top of seat. I mistakenly assumed that the Grand-sons were adults & their seats did not need to be protected. There was a 3 sided rip in the veneer on bottom of table apron, previously repaired. Considering the age of this set it is in very good condition. The chairs are sturdy enough for heavier folks, unlike my Moller dining chairs. Chairs weigh about 12#, leaves weigh 10# & table 50#. Table is a guesstimate. We believe the set is oak??? very heavy & sturdy, unlike most Danish Modern furniture. It is a very attractive set, perfect for your Easter family dinner. Shipping will be freight, I have used Plycon for dining table, chairs & credenza, blanket wrapped with no problem. Also TSC Moving, less costly & very reliable! We will be available anytime your shipper is scheduled for pick up. Set may also be picked up at our home, we are about 100 miles East of DFW. Near US 80, between I 30 & I 20.
