This Wilcox and Gibbs sewing machine dates from the late 1800's and is in working condition. It operates so smoothly, you're reminded of the old statement "they don't make 'em like that anymore!" Most of the gold leaf is still visible and the last patent date is 1884. Also, it has the original top case with a gold decal inside featuring the company logo. The base is missing, but was obviously just a flat piece of wood that the upper box attached to. The case has an upper edge made up of four strips of wood tacked around the box. One of these is partially broken off, but could probably be replaced. All in all, for a hundred plus year old machine, this is a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of another age. It has been a item of conversation in our home for years, but due to downsizing to a smaller home, this, along with other treasures must go. We charge only actual shipping cost, which is calculated by zip code. Happy bidding!
