WILD & CRAZY ! BRILLIANT COLORS TITANIUM ON CHALCEDONY Size: 2 5/8" x 2" x 2" Play of color: dichroic metallic purple, blue, green, yellow, and golden colors. Check out this wild & crazy stuff! This is natural chalcedony that has been coated with titanium. This is a great specimen with folds, vugs and unusual surface textures. There are a few holes that deep inside you can see what the chalcedony looked like before it got its titanium coating. This rock looks like irradiated lava from 1950s science-fiction movie! You'll love it! Everyone who has gotten one of these unique specimens from me has been thrilled. Years back, while stumbling though the Chiricahua Mountains looking for chalcedony desert roses & fire agate with my friends, Mescalero Apache People. They told me many stories about the surrounding Chiricahua Mountains. Chief Wendell was still alive and residing Chief of the Mescaleros. His ancestors, Geronimo and Cochise hung out in this country known for being rugged and rough. The best of the chalcedony formations to be found were the old geothermal tidal pools that dried up. Imagine if you will "Yellowstone Unplugged". That is how these beautiful chalcedony "flowers" were created. Millions of years of deposits of hot silica creating natural objects like the chalcedony you see here, after it's been coated with titanium. read more
