Wild Rose Spongeware Pitcher A stem of fully-opened wild roses banded top and bottom by sponge. Description. This is a very special Spongeware pitcher and another one of my favorites. The combination of a highlighted pattern accented with sponging is not seen on any other pitchers and is considered an outstanding part of any collection. The pitcher has a large cylindrical body with a soft curved handle and a pointed spout. T is a stem of fully-opened wild roses gracing a smooth white background on each side of the pitcher. The wild roses are highlighted in deep blue and sponging around the top and bottom as well as on the handle, which is unique. If you look closely you will see double rows of embossed beading at the top and the bottom that separate the roses from the sponging. A mirrorâe"image pattern of semi-circles and diamonds accents the base while a band of smaller wild roses and leaves accents the collar.
