WILLIAM IV ~ MAHOGANY GLAZED FIRE SCREEN ~ 19th CENTURY CHINESE SILK WILLIAM IV 1830 - 1837 GEORGIAN FIRE SCREEN The screen has a later edition pediment, which could easily be removed and the screen restored to simplistic William style. The glazed frame houses a later edition of 19th century chinese silk work. This has been removed from a velvet garment which was possibly damaged and whilst these two partners have been brought together latterly the marriage works! The silk work is stunning and the scene is of prunus and insects, with the source a intricate embroidered wicker basket, its truly stunning. Hours, of work. The screen is supported on down swept feet with a supporting base. The depth of colour which the mahogany reflects is superb, a truly superb quality addition Overall Dimensions are Approx 24.5 x 34.5 x 12.5 inches This is an utterly stunning piece of craftsmanship which is lovely as a focal point even without a fire to screen!
