WILLIAM L. GILBERT MOVEMENT WEIGHT DRIVEN CLOCK. CIRCA LATE 1800'S. Up for bid is this very nice weight driven shelf or table clock. I purchased this clock from an estate awhile back and it is quite unique. It measures 18" wide and 28" tall. The cabinet is in pretty fair condition with some alligatoring of the finish on the dark stained areas. It has nice embossed wood which could be mahogany on the crown and base and up the front sides. It really dresses this clock up. The dial has been repainted at one time, but looks very good. The movement is a William L. Gilbert 30 hour weight driven clock and the movement is stamped with the Gilbert name. I have thoroughly cleaned and oiled the movement and restrung the weights with a very heavy cord made for this purpose. the clock strikes on the hour on a coil gong. The clock runs and keeps good time and strikes very well. I donot know if the movement is original to this clock. Everything fits the way that it is supposed to. T is a label inside the clock which gives the directions for operating the clock. The picture that is in the bottom glass says " A mid Winter Day" It is a very nice picture and could be a Courier and Ives print. I will ship the weights seperately to avoid damage to the clock. Don't miss out on this fine old antique clock. If you are considering a bid on my clock, please review my ebay feedback. You will then be able to bid with confidence. Thanks for viewing my item. NOTE: I will only ship to the lower 48 states for the rate listed in my auction. Alaska, Hawaii and Canada will have to pay the actual shipping charges which will be determined as soon as the auction ends.
