This is being relisted. If you want it buy it now because if it doesn't sell it's going back on the wall. I will not relist again. is a beautiful picture by William Ladd Taylor dated 1901. It is marked W.L. Taylor 1901. I believe it is a litho print in it's original frame. It does not look like it has every been out of the frame. Back says "Henry R. Johnson 391 Springfield, Massachusetts." That was the framer and t is a lable to the left that says "Mummy." Frame measures a little over 13" x a little over 18". Wood is intricately carved and soft so t are a few small bits of damage as photographed. I bet if you stained it they would not be obvious at all. Frame width is 2" all around.
The subject matter is compelling. It is an elaborately dressed young woman sitting beside the fireplace holding the hand of what looks like her slave. She is lost in thought. I believe the name of this is "Awaiting his return." But I'm not 100% sure. W.L. Taylor (1854-1926) was from Massachusetts and t are many good historical accounts on his life and art if you google him. I see a tiny place under the glass and on the print to the lower right that looks like a bug. I have tried to photograph it (see last photo). It is approx. 1/4" long. Bad bug. Still a remarkable picture. I don't care if I sell it or not hence the price. Use the buy-it-now and shipping is free. Thanks for stopping by and please check out my other auctions by clicking on "View Seller's Other Items" to the right of the big blue "Place Bid" tab and down a few lines.
