American, 1842-1909 The three-masted schooner Tamos . Signed lower left "W. P. Stubbs". Descended in consignor's family. Accompanied by a letter stating that the painting was given to the consignor's uncle in 1917 by Captain John J. Moule of "about 4918 Alinn Rock Ave, San Jose". Capt. Moule was owner of the "Tamos", which ran from New York to New Orleans. Consignor's ancestors lived near Capt. Moule when he lived at the above address in 1899. Oil on canvas, 22" x 36".
