This extraordinary early vintage Mexican Silver Bracelet was created by the famous William Spratling, the American who many consider to be the "Grandfather" of the Taxco Mexican Silver Renaissance. Created in what is known as his 1st design period ~ 1921-1945 ~ he called this design the "Scales Bracelet". These "scales" or links, are set with pin hinges in three rows, alternating sterling silver & bronze ~ Spratling also made this bracelet in all silver which is more common, this bracelet with this combination is a more rare and seldom seen version . A substantial bracelet, it measures 7 1/4" long by 1" wide and it weighs a heavy 80.6 grams. Hallmarked "Spratling Silver" and "Spratling Made in Mexico" around the joined initials WS. The bracelet is in good original vintage condition with no signs of damage or repair, only typical signs of gentle wear and it has a unique fold over clasp that forms part of the design and when shut stays tightly closed. Both the silver and the bronze have developed a lovely patina ~ we never polish our items leaving that decision to the lucky new owner. This is a very special and rare bracelet by one of the true Masters of Mexican Silver Jewelry and a fine addition to any Spratling or vintage silver lover's collection ~ it's an heirloom treasure!
