William Trost Richards is regarded by many scholars and collectors as the finest 19th century American seascape painter. A true innovator in the genre, Richard's seascapes combine aspects of the Hudson River School's strict adherence to nature, with dramatic effect borrowed from the Pre-Raphaelites. To the west, it is connected to North Kingstown, Rhode Island on the mainland by the Jamestown-Verrazano Bridge. The island comprises the town of Jamestown, Rhode Island.
