I have officially become "one of those people". You know, the ones you see on eBay with pictures taken in their garage, and the garage is overflowing with so much stuff that they'll never possibly get to all of it! I have been buying multiple arcade and pinball projects and no longer have any room to actually work on them, so I need to pare it down a bit. This auction is for a 1985 Williams HIGH SPEED Pinball Machine. It is working, but could use some TLC to get it truly finished. I'll start with the bad: * Playfield is badly worn, as you can see. Doesn't affect gameplay at all, but a collector would likely want to replace the playfield. * Game 'pops' three times when turned on. It is a solenoid in the top right of the back box that appears to be some kind of safety lock? It has nothing to do with gameplay, so I would just unplug one of the wires and ignore it. * Displays need work - Player 1 & 3 work but sometimes appear a bit garbled; Player 2 & 4 and the middle display are not working. Should just need glass replaced (around $30-45 each). * A couple chipped paint spots on backglass, but in localized spots and not difficult areas to repaint. And now the good: * Game works! I have been playing it regularly for a month or so since I got it. it really only needs the displays and a couple simple adjustments to be a 100% working machine, and can play just fine without ever replacing the displays if you aren't in a hurry to do that. * Underside of Playfield is awesome - no hacks. * Playfield parts are at least 99% t I see 2 little target stickers (green light and yellow light) missing, and 1 plastic has a corner chipped off. T are wires coming out of the playfield in the far left top corner, but I don't know why - t shouldn't be anything t that I know of. Possibly a previous user had wired up an aftermarket powered toy of some sort - toy car with lights or something? Even has the pop bumper caps, wire ramps look like new, etc. * Backglass is pretty solid and will look sharp when those few spots are touched up. * Apron looks brand new. * Cabinet is very solid and could easily be touched up to complete restoration. Not too many scratches on the artwork on this one. * Replacement beacon can be wired up or turned on manually. *Multi-ball play works as it should. * Has all keys. * Coin door looks like new. * Boards all look awesome with no hacks, no battery leakage, etc. * Sounds all work 100% and boy are they fun. In my opinion, some of the best sounds on a pinball, with the police coming on randomly in attract mode and scaring the daylights out of houseguests! * Will throw in a copy of the Manual, Schematics, and Replacement Credit Instructions I just bought. * Will throw in a brand new replacement rubber kit I just bought from Marco Specialties. All in all, this is a perfect project for someone with a little bit of time. Play it right away, dive in for an immediate refurbishing, or just fix the displays and replace the playfield somew down the road - it's your choice!
