This impressive bench-seat is upholstered for comfort, in pale yellow brocade and supported by substantial and boldly-carved cabriole legs constructed from solid mahogany in a rich, warm chestnut color, finishing in classic claw-and-ball carved feet. Traditionally seats of this design would have been placed against the piers between tall windows but, because the carving is of the same high standard on all the legs of each seat, it would be equally attractive freestanding. Although the style is traditional it would have been pride of place in any stately 18th-century setting the details of the carving and the construction lead us to think they were made during the Georgian Revival period between 1880-1895. However, because of the seats quality, utility and appeal we have no hesitation in displaying it as part of our stock.
