This belong to a very influential family in the Washington DC area, im showing some very nice photos and have some more on a pdf file if you like. Regency Furniture. Outstanding walnut wine cooler or cellarette. English. Circa 1810. This sarcophagus shaped cellaret has a fabulous style and proportions. Very desirable and usable piece. Quality cellarets are becoming quite scarce. The cellaret was used for short term storage of wine in the dining room and usually stood next to the sideboard. This one is one of the nicest we have encountered. Solid walnut. Original finish in excellent shape with an outstanding patina. Gadrooned edge on the lid. The interior is lined. Overall excellent condition with age appropriate minor imperfections. Measures about 25" 1/2 long and is about 15" 3/4 wide at the extremes. The piece is about 17" tall. You would have to look long and hard to find a nicer one.
