This is our "Traditional Free Standing Frame Mounted" model and it can be placed virtually anywhere without having to mount it to the floor or the wall. If you've ever had the ability to train on a frame mounted dummy then you already know how much spring and feedback these types of Mook Jongs provide you with. The actual dummy body slides across the lateral support slats with ease when struck from the side which allows the practitioner the ability to fully develop both sides of their body in an equal fashion. This is an absolute must for Wing Chun practitioners. Our dummies are 100% hand crafted by an expert craftsman who also happens to be an advanced Wing Chun practitioner. Each dummy begins its life by going through a laminate process. Having a laminate trunk is much better than having a trunk from a solid piece of wood because solid trunks are notorious for cracking. With laminate construction a potential crack can only crack through a single outer layer not the whole trunk. This process makes our Mook Jongs incredibly strong and guarantees that they'll hold up to even the most rigorous training. Once the blanks are formed for the trunk, arms, and leg the carving and shaping begins. These dummies are not turned on a lathe, they are all “planed and shaped by hand”. This gives each and every dummy we make its own unique characteristics. No two dummies are exactly alike. After the shaping has been completed, the sanding process begins. Once the dummy has been sanded totally smooth, stain is then applied. This particular dummy is stained in Shaolin House Red however you may choose whatever color you like. All of our dummies are stained with Minwax oil stains or Lenar Lacquer stains and are protected with two coats of Minwax semi gloss polyurethane. Our Mook Jongs are constructed using traditional measurements. T he body as well as the arms have offset shafts. Traditional Mook Jongs usually have staggered arms where the left arm is usually higher than the right arm. With our Mook Jongs you can choose to have the arms staggered or level simply by rotating one of the arms by 180 degrees. See the photos for an example. This gives you more flexibility and training options over the competition. This particular model is made out of Red Oak Hardwood . It's highly desired for its shock resistant properties and its superior strength over other hardwoods. Total assembled height of the frame is 6' and the Mook Jong body is fully adjustable from 5' 6" to 6' 6" which will fit virtually any sized person. The frame only requires a 3' by 6' area of space on the floor and the actual Mook Jong body is 60" long with a 9" diameter.
