WITCH HOUSE SALEM MASSACHUSETTS STERLING SOUVENIR SPOON
This delightful sterling spoon from Salem Massachusetts brings us back to the days of the Salem Witch trials in 17th century. The handle has an embossed detailed image of house and banner reading HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES and SALEM, MASS down the handle. It is excellent condition and measures 5 5/8" long. On the back marked STERLING and makers marking of J M Co between crossed pick and shovel. Please see other, some rare, collector spoons I'm currently listing. is some information on the subject: Nathaniel Hawthorne, author of many books and buried in Salem City cemetery wrote THE HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES. The House of the Seven Gables (1851) tells the story of a curse placed on the House of Pyncheon by Matthew Maule, a victim of the Salem witchcraft trials. Hawthorne traces the curse's effect on the Pyncheon descendants and describes their final reconciliation to their past.
